Robert M. Peele, III, brings over 15 years of experience practicing law in South Carolina. He routinely defends civil litigation claims and tries cases in state and federal court. He also counsels clients in appellate court cases involving insurance coverage, premises liability, trucking and transportation, professional liability, construction defect, and negligence.

Construction Litigation

Rob defends claims against developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, manufacturers, and property owners. Often, these matters involve allegations of construction defects in single-family, multi-family, and commercial developments. Rob also represents these professionals when allegations are made against their licenses.

Trucking and Transportation

Rob defends against claims of serious injury and property damage stemming from accidents involving commercial vehicles and incidents involving broker liability, cargo theft, employment issues, workplace and other industrial accidents, highway construction and other design defects, and roadway construction.

Insurance Litigation

Rob helps carriers navigate the nuisances of insurance law in South Carolina. He counsels on matters related to insurance coverage, defends insurers against bad faith claims, files declaratory judgment actions on behalf of insurance carriers to interpret insurance coverage, and assists insurance carriers by conducting investigations of insured misconduct.

Product Liability

Rob represents manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and retailers in litigation involving defective product claims or collateral business litigation. He has extensive experience in simple and complex product liability cases involving:

Rob works with company officials and experts to thoroughly investigate the facts of any consumer products claim. He determines how an injury happened and whether a product’s design or manufacturer had anything to do with it. After a thorough investigation, he works to reach an efficient and fair resolution to minimize business risk.

Retail and Hospitality

Rob is experienced in all facets of litigation that impact retailers and hospitality leaders in South Carolina, including premises liability, third-person tort/assault, alcohol liability/Dram Shop, adulterated food claims, asset protection, and regulatory agency sanctions. He represents leading national and regional companies in the retail, hotel, food service, bar and private club, and entertainment industries, focusing on protecting their brands and asset management.

Throughout his career, Rob has focused on wellness with his co-workers, emphasizing the importance of physical and mental health in the legal profession.  

Rob regularly volunteers at the Oliver Gospel Mission Men’s Shelter and Junior Achievement and coaches church league basketball. He serves as a guardian ad litem.

Before entering private practice, Rob served the State of South Carolina as Deputy General counsel for the Department of Corrections. Before law school, Rob worked in the banking industry.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys exercise, fishing, and watching and coaching his children’s sports teams.
